Dr. Tim Tingey brings broad experience to the role
February 24, 2025 – EPHRAIM, UT – Snow College announced today that Dr. Tim Tingey has accepted the Vice President for Finance and Administrative Services position. Tingey has worked for over 25 years in education, government, and non-profit organizations and currently works as a full-time professor in the Division of Public Affairs at the University of Utah. Of his appointment, Tingey said, “I am so grateful and excited for the opportunity to serve on the administrative team at Snow College. I look forward to working with President McIff and colleagues across campus to achieve institutional goals and objectives and enhance student learning. Snow College is such an amazing place, and I look forward to being a part of the institution and communities it serves.”
Tingey holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Utah State University and has a Master of Public Administration (MPA) and a doctorate in political science from Idaho State University. He worked as an adjunct faculty member for Idaho State University and the University of Utah and recently served for six years as the city manager and chief executive officer for Cottonwood Heights City, overseeing all executive and administrative functions of the community. He previously worked as the director of administrative and development services for Murray City Corporation managing seven divisions for the city and was the executive director for the Redevelopment Agency of Murray. He also worked for the City of Pocatello for eleven years in economic development, planning, and grant administration.
President Stacee Y. McIff said, “We are excited to welcome Tim to Snow College! We are committed to effective, efficient practices that help students and employees succeed, and Tim has the experience we need to lead our finance and administrative services team. He is smart, professional, and kind, and I have confidence that he will help us navigate the critical strategic and financial decisions that shape the college’s future.”
Tingey and his wife, Gail, are proud parents of four children. They also have one grandchild with three more on the way. Tingey is originally from the small community of Carey, Idaho, and looks forward to returning to a rural area.
A nationwide search resulted in applications from across the country, and committee members narrowed down applicants before making their final recommendations to college leadership. Tingey fills the position vacated by Carson Howell who left earlier this month to accept a similar position at Southern Oregon University. Jacob Dettinger will serve as the college’s Interim Vice President for Finance and Administrative Services until Dr. Tingey assumes his role in April.
