Day of Service Announced

Snow College students to help residents of Fountain Green dig out after flooding

September 5, 2024–EPHRAIM, UT – The Snow College Construction Management students are heading up a Day of Service on September 7, 2024 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm to help the town of Fountain Green.

Fountain Green, located approximately 20 miles from the Snow College Ephraim campus, was hit with flooding after a massive thunderstorm covered the area on August 18, 2024. Officials estimate that roughly half of the homes in town were impacted, leaving many residents with flooding damage.

Snow College Professor David Barker learned that many of those impacted are elderly, disabled, or low-income. Head of the Construction Management program at Snow College, David was in a unique position to offer assistance. He explained, “This is what Snow College is about. I'm happy that we can help the residents of Fountain Green clean up and rebuild after the flooding. Our students are eager to put their skills to practice while serving our community."

Word about The Day of Service quickly spread beyond the Construction Management department. Students from across campus are excited to be involved, and David welcomes the help, saying, “We’ll provide the gloves and tools. No construction experience is required—there will be plenty of work for people of every skill level.”
