(Ephraim, UT, February 14, 2024) — Snow College is pleased to announce the addition of a cross country program for both men and women as well as a junior varsity football program beginning Fall of 2024.
The cross country teams will be based on the Richfield campus while the JV football team will use the existing resources in Ephraim. The addition of the programs not only increases access for potential student-athletes but also aligns with the institution’s priorities and strategies.
Members of the Snow College Strategic Enrollment Committee found that the addition of more athletic programs could enhance both campuses and increase enrollment – a notion that is supported by college leadership.
“We believe these additions will help us expand opportunities to more students while providing the excellent student experience that is unique to Snow College,” Rob Nielson, Vice President for External Affairs and Athletic Director, said.
Following a financial analysis by the institution, it was determined that both programs could be integrated largely with the use of existing resources. In conjunction with the strategic enrollment plan, adding athletic programs to the Richfield campus will serve to create more general education opportunities in addition to the technical education classes currently offered.
The cross country programs will start competing immediately within the umbrella of the NJCAA Region 18 and the Scenic West Athletic Conference. Other member institutions have recently announced the addition of such programs.
“We have worked hard to establish an institutional strategic enrollment plan to promote smart and sustainable growth at Snow College. Considering and adopting new athletic programs is one of many key strategies outlined in our plan,” Cody Branch, Vice President of Student Affairs, said. “We are thrilled about the opportunity to onboard the JV football program in Ephraim and the cross country team in Richfield, as both will help us grow and provide a Snow experience to more students while enhancing the student life experience on both of our campuses.”
