Academics
- Snow College students will take a selection of academic subjects specifically designed
to help them learn Spanish and explore the culture through electives such as literature,
culture, art, and film.
- You can take electives in English in economics, history, human rights, social studies,
and sociology.
- You can also enroll in 12 credits of Global Inquiry Abroad or Spanish language classes
for Beginner I to Advanced II.
- There’s even a chance to participate in a credit-bearing Internship Course in Spanish
& Community Service.
To offer a diverse range of program options, Arcos Learning Abroad partners with two
prestigious academic institutions in Buenos Aires. Your placement will depend on the
session and type of program you choose. Most likely, you’ll take classes at the University
of Belgrano, a prestigious private university founded in 1964. If you’re able to take
classes exclusively in Spanish, you also have the option of enrolling in a semester
at ESEADE (Instituto Universitario Escuela Superior de Economía y Administración de
Empresa).
Learn more about both options.
Explore a list of classes on the Arcos site.
Cultural Immersion
- Experience hands-on learning through cultural activities such as tango lessons and performances, museum and theater visits, cooking classes,
and guided city tours by foot, bus or bike.
- Explore Argentina through day trips and overnight weekend getaways to El Tigre River, Gaucho (Cowboy) Ranch, and you can even cross the immense Río
de la Plata (the widest river in the world) into the Uruguayan town of Colonia where
you’ll experience a completely different vibe thanks to its Portuguese roots.
- You may also choose to volunteer with local public schools teaching English or support the community via home-building
projects or helping out at a local food bank.
- Remember that because they are south of the equator, the seasons are reversed in Argentina,
providing a fun twist on travel!
Your Schedule
About two weeks prior to the start of your program, you will receive a Program Calendar
that will list program activities such as class times, meal times, cultural activities,
and weekend excursions.

Using financial aid and applying for a scholarship or grant:
Arcos Learning Abroad allows Snow College students to pay for their program with the
use of financial aid, scholarships, grants, loans, and other means of approved financial
assistance. Payment works in the following ways:
- If financial aid will cover your program in full, but with a release date after the
final payment deadline, then we require a Good Faith Payment (GFP) by the final payment
deadline. The GFP is not a fee; it gets deducted from the program price.
- If financial aid is only covering a portion of your amount due, then any difference
not covered by financial aid must be paid in full to Arcos Learning Abroad by the final payment
deadline.
You may be able to use federal student aid (FAFSA) to pay for your study abroad program.
You’ll need to meet the aid eligibility criteria and fill out a FAFSA form before
you can receive federal student aid to study abroad.
Starting this process early is important to ensure that all necessary paperwork gets
processed on time.
Talk to your study abroad advisor to:
- Determine which types of aid may be available.
- Learn if you can apply your FAFSA funding for studying abroad.
- Find out if you need to provide Arcos with official written confirmation from Snow
College’s Financial Aid Office.
- Check if you need to submit Arcos’ Financial Aid Verification Form.
Pay the Program Deposit when applying:
- A non-refundable $200 program deposit is required to reserve your place in an Arcos
study abroad program.
- This amount goes towards your program price (it is not an additional fee).
- If you are not accepted into the program, the deposit is refunded.
- Your application is not considered complete until the deposit has been submitted.
- Payment instructions will be provided to you after your application is received.
Payments can be made via the Arcos website.
Housing and Meals
Homestays
- Argentinian homestays are considered middle-class by local standards and live in safe,
central neighborhoods. All homes have Wi-Fi.
- Many homestays in Argentina are single mothers (host moms) with grown children. However,
Arcos has different types of homestays and the final selection is based on your personal
profile that you share when applying.
- Homestays in Buenos Aires are usually in apartments versus houses.
- You may share a room with another student. Not all apartments are large enough for
single rooms.
- There are several amenities such as shops and laundromats also located near all homestays.
- Homestays are typically within a 20-30 minute commute to school, often via the subway
or a local bus.
Meals
A light breakfast is included seven days a week.
Dinner is provided by your homestay every evening except on Saturdays.
Lunch is not included, so you are free to pack your own or pick something up from
one of the many local eateries in the city.
