Course Description
This course emphasizes the development of personal skills for success, encourages campus engagement, and explores majors and careers. The focus of the course will be academic skills, self-management skills, campus resources, the Snow College General Education curriculum and how student interests, skills and values can help them select a major.
Justification
This course is consistent with similar courses offered at other USHE institutions. The course will teach students many of the skills they need to be successful in their academic, personal and professional lives and by doing so, will assist in student retention efforts.

Course Content
Generally this course examines student success skills, with particular emphasis placed on self-management skills required for the increased responsibility of college work. Exploration of major and career choice and how relevant self-knowledge impacts this decision will be discussed. Snow College General Education curriculum and graduation requirements will be taught and given context in the student curriculum. The course orients students to campus resources, campus activities and how they supplement the academic curriculum. Some sections may be major or academic pathway specific, e.g. Principles of Student Success--Music.
