Trauma and abuse take on many forms.

It applies to present and past events.

Abuse can be physical, emotional, or psychological, and should not be ignored (regardless of whether it's in the past or present).

Students who were victims during childhood may have developed patterns of behavior in order to survive their environments; when that environment changes, these behavior patterns create conflict and life difficulty.
