Best of State 2022

Employees and programs were awarded in six areas of distinction

The 2022 Best of State winners have been announced and, with wins in six categories, Snow College had a strong showing. Snow earned medals in the following areas of distinction:

Education Advisor: Brittany Cornelsen

With a case load of often over 700 students, Brittany Cornelsen can often be found coming up with creative and innovative ways to connect to her students. Brittany is well loved by students, and for good reason. Along with her friendly, personal attitude, Brittany works extra hard to make sure that students have all the resources and information needed to succeed at Snow and in their future aspirations.

College/University Teacher: Keith Steurer

During his time at Snow, Keith Steurer has transformed his Physics and Engineering classes to help students better experience and understand the principles being taught. From service-learning opportunities and a full redesign of Snow’s Elementary Physics course to hands-on engineering competitions like the robot race or rocket competition, Keith makes his classes understandable and enjoyable. Each year, Keith’s evaluations are full of praise for his constant support, positive attitude, and genuine love for engineering and physics.

Support Personnel: Annette Taylor

Annette Taylor has a passion for serving others, both at Snow and in the community. This is best represented both by her support of her employees with special needs , who gain valuable life-skills through their work in the Badger Den, and in her endeavors to give international students a taste of home. Through Annette and her team’s hard work, Snow College has been #1 or #2 in the state for best college campus food for five years. Despite her many responsibilities, she maintains a cheerful attitude and strong work ethic and is a beloved part of Snow College.

Higher Education Administrator: Bradley J. Cook

President Cook loves Snow College and the communities it serves. At Snow, President Cook is constantly finding ways to improve the college—from expanding its online offerings to building the technical education program. He values each student, staff, and faculty member and believes that every voice deserves to be heard.

Vocational Training: Learn and Work

The Learn and Work at Snow College program was designed to provide free training to members of the community who may have lost work during the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants can choose from multiple short-term training programs. The programs help students earn certificates or credentials, allowing them to quickly get back to work.

Snow College is known for its innovative and hands-on approach to higher education. Its small size allows students room to get ahead, and its low price makes college accessible to anyone. Snow College has worked to be an active part of Central Utah, from student- and faculty-led volunteer projects to the art and community that it creates.

This is Snow College’s second year participating in Best of State. In 2021, Snow received awards for best college professor, best educational advisor, best higher education administrator, best curriculum development, and the BOSS statue, which is the overall award in education.
