Big Win for Snow College Ethics Bowl Team

The team beat 13 schools to bring home first place

November 21, 2022 – Ephraim, UT – The Snow College Ethics Bowl team recently traveled to Colorado Springs, Colorado to compete in the Rocky Mountain Regional Ethics Bowl. The event, which took place on the campus of the University of Colorado, hosted 14 teams from 11 different colleges and universities. Despite being the only two-year college in attendance, Snow’s team prevailed.

The ethics bowl competition consists of four rounds. The winner of each round is determined by a panel of three judges. After the four rounds are concluded, the team with the best overall record is declared the winner. If two teams have the same record, the winner is determined by point differential. Snow College finished with a 4-0 record and a +36-point differential, putting them eight points ahead of second-place winner University of Colorado, Colorado Springs.

In winning the Rocky Mountain Regional Ethics Bowl, the team earned a bid to the National Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl, which will be held on March 4-5 in Portland, Oregon where the top 36 teams from North America will compete.

Dr. Gregory Wright, professor of English and Philosophy at Snow College and one of the team coaches expressed his pride at the team’s performance. He said, “Despite having five students who had never participated in ethics bowl, our team demonstrated great poise as they presented nuanced arguments on some of today’s most pressing ethical dilemmas. Their win was stunning!”

Snow College is no stranger to ethics bowl excellence. The team has competed in ethics bowl competitions since 2013, winning the Two-year College National Championship in 2016 and the combined Wasatch/Rocky Mountain Regional in 2020.
