Outlook 365 Migration

Girl figuring out her new student email
  • What is happening?

You are getting a new email account with the same login as your current one.

  • Why?

It will allow you to use Microsoft Teams in Canvas for your classes, beginning this fall.
  • When will this move happen?

Beginning Friday, June 15th at 5pm. The move will complete over the weekend.
  • How does this affect me?

After this Friday evening, when you login to your Snow Email at outlook.office.com you will have to set up two factor authentication, because it is a new account. The new account will look like your current account (i.e., first.last@students.snow.edu) and you will use your current password to get in.
  • Will my old emails and files be there?

No, your old emails and files will be in your old account. Where is that? Same place, at office.com, or outlook.snow.edu for your email, but you have to login with a slightly different email address (first.last@oldstudents.snow.edu). The password will be the same and the two factor will be whatever you already setup.
  • Why are we keeping the old account?

So that you can move any emails or files you want to keep.
  • How do I move my emails and files?

Instructions for moving files and emails will be posted on the IT website on Monday.
  • I’m a new student, what is Office 365?

It is a suite of software programs offered by Microsoft. It includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook among other products. You login by going to office.com in your web browser. From there, you will see a series of colorful icons on the left of your screen. These are the software programs you can use. Outlook is the email program, where you will receive emails from the college that are important to read. You should check it at least once a day.
  • Is there someone that can help me with migrating my files and/or emails from my old account to my new account?

Yes, the IT Helpdesk (435-283-7777) can assist you with migrating your files or emails.
