Catalog Description: This is a music major course which teaches the fundamentals of piano playing at an intermediate level. This course will provide students with intermediate level piano techniques, rhythms, music notation, and intermediate performance pieces.

Justification: This course continues the music major's progress toward piano proficiency, which is a requirement for all National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) accredited institutions. Similar courses are offered at other NASM accredited institutions in Utah and throughout the country.


Student Learning Outcomes:
Students will demonstrate intermediate level piano technique.  This outcome will be assessed via daily performance in class, scheduled playing tests, and the final exam.

Students will demonstrate an ability to harmonize given melodies. This outcome will be assessed via daily performance in class, scheduled playing tests, and the final exam.

Students will demonstrate an ability to transpose melodies and accompaniments.  This outcome will be assessed via daily performance in class, scheduled playing tests, and the final exam.

Students will demonstrate an ability to read from sight selected literature.  This outcome will be assessed via daily performance in class, scheduled playing tests, and the final exam.
