July 1, 2026 – Ephraim, UT – Snow College will celebrate the groundbreaking of the new social science building on Monday, July 27, at 12:00 p.m. The campus community, alumni, and members of the public are invited to attend.

The new facility will bear the name of Mark R. and LeAnn W. Stoddard in recognition of their extraordinary commitment to Snow College. For many years, the Stoddards have been among the College's strongest advocates and most generous supporters, helping expand opportunities for students and strengthen the institution through their leadership and philanthropy. Naming the building in their honor celebrates both their connection as Snow College alumni and the lasting influence they have created through their unwavering support of the college.

"Mark and LeAnn have always believed in the potential of Snow College students," said President Stacee Y. McIff. "Their quiet service, steadfast support, and love for this institution have strengthened Snow College in countless ways. Every student who walks through the doors of the building will benefit from the example they have set and the legacy they have created."

The new 45,000 sq. foot facility will double the existing classroom capacity and provide collaborative learning spaces, learner-focused labs, and updated resources designed to support student success and meet the evolving needs of higher education. Approved for funding during the 2024 Utah Legislative Session, the project has been a key component of the College's long-range facilities plan and has been publicly announced and discussed for more than a year.

Construction of the new building requires the removal of several aging campus buildings, including Greenwood Hall, the Cottages, and the Home and Family Studies Building. Recognizing the affection some feel for Greenwood Hall, the college has preserved a limited number of original bricks and pieces of oolite stone from the building. These items will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for alumni, employees, and others who would like a small piece of the building's history. Contact the Campus Services Office for additional information. Because of the age and construction of the other buildings being removed, materials from those facilities cannot be safely preserved or distributed.

The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at the construction site, located at 100 East and Center Street in Ephraim. Snow College looks forward to celebrating this exciting milestone with the Stoddard family, alumni, friends of the College, and the community as construction begins on a facility that will continue the college's tradition of providing exceptional educational opportunities for generations of Badgers.
