Catalog Description: Students in this course participate in a chamber music experience on brass instruments. Students will be organized into quartets, quintets, and choirs. This course is repeatable for credit.

Prerequisites: By permission of the instructor.

Justification: Music majors are required to participate in a variety of ensembles. Playing in small ensembles, where students play one on a part, provides a focus on intonation, articulation, style and musicality that is not possible to achieve in larger ensembles. All NASM accredited institutions are required to ensure music majors have experience in these kinds of ensembles.


Student Learning Outcomes:
Students will demonstrate competent performance of the literature selected by the instructor.  This outcome will be assessed through periodic playing tests, and rehearsal, and performance evaluation.

Students will demonstrate individual growth in technique, and musicality.  This outcome will be assessed through periodic playing tests, and performance and rehearsal evaluation.


Content:
Members of the ensemble will learn to perform appropriate literature as selected by the instructor.
