Nelsen Campbell is a jazz trombone player and composer who lives in the Utah County area. Growing up in Rochester NY, Nelsen had opportunities to interact with great jazz musicians as they came through the Eastman School of Music as guests and students. Nelsen started his college education at Snow College, where he studied with Willie Applewhite and Carl Allen. Throughout his time at Snow he also was able to study with James Burton III and Philip Kuehn. He transferred to BYU, and later to UVU where he finished his Bachelors of Science degree. Nelsen Currently teaches middle school band at American Heritage school, while also teaching a private studio, performing for events around the state and the country. He teaches at the Birch Creek Music Academy each summer during their jazz sessions for young musicians, and he is also called to compose for different ensembles around the country.
