Computer Troubles

Shutting down the computer properly ensures that all files that are stored in memory will not become corrupt. Close all programs before beginning the shutdown procedures.

Windows Procedure
Step 1: Click the Windows Start Button
Step 2: Click Shutdown button
Step 3: Select Shutdown from drop menu
Step 4: Click OK button

Mac OS X Procedure
Step 1: Click the Apple menu
Step 2: Click Shutdown
Step 3: Click Shutdown button
Note: The computer will shutdown automatically within two minutes if you don't click the shutdown button.

On of the greatest tools we have as help desk assistants is the ability to shutdown and restart a computer. This should be the first step in troubleshooting a computer problem.
