Inter-library loan (ILL)

Request Items from Other Libraries

If the Snow College Library doesn't have a book or article you need, you can request the item through our Interlibrary Loan Service.

It is a free service for current students, faculty and staff.

Requesting Articles

Magazine, newspaper, and scholarly articles usually arrive fast — often within a day or two.

  1. Fill out the Interlibrary Loan form. Include as much detail as you can — article title, author, journal name, volume, issue, and date all help us track it down faster.
  2. Plan ahead. Requests can take up to 48 hours. Keep in mind that most interlibrary loan offices are closed on weekends.
  3. Watch your email. We'll send you a link or file as soon as the article is available.
Turnaround: up to 48 hours

Requesting Print Books

Need a physical book we don't have on the shelf? We can borrow it from another library and hold it for you at the front desk.

  1. Fill out the Interlibrary Loan form. Include the title, author, and publication year if you have them.
  2. Plan ahead. Print books take 7–10 days to arrive, so request early — especially if the book is for a paper or project with a deadline.
  3. Watch your email. We'll let you know the moment your book is ready to pick up.
At the Richfield Campus? Follow the same steps and simply tell us which campus you're at when you submit your request. We'll send the book to Richfield so you don't have to drive to Ephraim.
Turnaround: 7–10 days

Before You Request

A few quick things that save everyone time:

  • Check our catalog and databases first. We may already have it, and you could be reading it in the next five minutes.
  • Provide as much detail as possible. Partial citations slow things down. If you found the item in a database, copy the citation straight from there.
  • Build in a buffer. Weekends and holidays don't count toward turnaround times.
  • Not sure if ILL is the right route? Ask a Librarian.
