Course Description

This course is intended for first year members of the Snow College Men's Intercollegiate Wrestling Team. This is the first level of wrestling instruction and competition for men. Participants will learn basic techniques. skills, rules, and leadership that will allow them to compete effectively at the college level.

Justification

Physical activity is an important component of lifetime health and wellness. Physical activity can lead to positive physiological and psychological outcomes. Obesity, cardiovascular disease, Type-II diabetes, opsteoporosis and cancer risk may be reduced with physical activity. Physical activity has been identified as an effective antidepressant and treatment for depression. This class will provide access to physical activity for students enrolled.

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Student-athletes will be able to demonstrate the skills, fundamentals and rules of wrestling.
  2. Student-athletes will be able to demonstrate the leadership qualities associated with participating as a member of a team, including work ethick and attitude.
  3. Student-athletes will be able to explain and discuss the use of physical conditioning techniques and training skills.

Course Content

This course will cover the fundamentals of men's intercollegiate wrestling. Through practice and competition, team members will be instructed in wrestling skills, rules, leadership, conditioning, and training.
