Course Description
This course is designed for beginners as it offers an introduction to the sport of tennis. Students will learn and practice tennis strokes, rules, and scoring. This class is repeatable up to two times for credit.
Justification
Physical activity is an important component of lifetime health and wellness. Physical activity can lead to positive physiological and psychological outcomes. Obesity, cardiovascular disease, Type-II diabetes, osteoporosis and cancer risk may be reduced with physical activity. Physical activity has been identified as an effective antidepressant and treatment for depression. This class will provide access to physical activity for students enrolled. Similar courses are offered at other USHE institutions.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to implement their knowledge of basic tennis rules and scoring.
- Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to apply basic tennis skills (strokes, serves, volleys, etc.) and perform these skills associated with the game of tennis.
Course Content
This course will cover the fundamental skills and knowledge of tennis. Topics include the basic tennis strokes, rules for the game, and scoring.
