Frequently Asked Questions

Are the PUBLIC shows really free?

Yes, the public shows are really free. However, we do accept voluntary cash contributions at the show to help fund future shows (new feature movies can easily cost $10,000 for us to purchase) and help with maintenance, upkeep, and training. We encourage donations from groups that schedule a private show.

Is it OK to enter or exit the planetarium during a show?

Coming into the dome theater after the show has started is highly discouraged. Entries and exits during the show are fairly disruptive as they ruin the dark.

Is it OK to take flash photographs during the show?

No, but feel free to do so after the show.

Is it polite or respectful to use my mobile device during a show?

No.

Are there minimum age requirements for the shows?

The shows are G-rated, but small children may not have the requisite attention span. The theater gets dark and we strongly discourage entering or exiting during a show, but we also encourage quiet, respectful attention from all attendees. Disruptive children lessen the experience for others.

What are the parking options at the planetarium?

See our page on directions and parking.

Can I follow the planetarium on FaceBook and Twitter?

Yes, and we can let you know of upcoming shows.

What if I get sick or otherwise can’t attend?

Please go to the event at Eventbrite.com and cancel the ticket order to free up the seats for others to use.

Is it OK to show up late?

Coming into the dome theater after the show has started is highly discouraged. Entries and exits during the show are fairly disuptive as they ruin the dark. So please arrive a few minutes early and wait in the hallway for your ticket to get scanned at check-in.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket?

Please bring your ticket (the QR code) either printed on paper or on your electronic device. But do not stay home if your ticket is lost; we’ll figure something out.

Is it OK if the name on my ticket doesn’t match the person who attends?

Yes, it is OK as long as each attendee has a ticket.

Is there stand-by seating?

Yes, if there are seats still available at show time we can allow stand-by individuals in, up to a total of 25.
