Teaching English as a Second Language
A degree or certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) is a great option for students who like to explore different cultures, traditions, and languages. As part of the TESL program at Snow College, students tutor and teach English to non-native speakers from different cultures while taking classes in the program. With a certificate in TESL, graduates can teach English in private schools and language academies locally and internationally.

- Students working toward an AA or certificate in TESL may do a paid internship while working as a tutor in the ESL program.
- TESL majors may become members of and present at conferences of Intermountain TESOL, a local organization for ESL professionals.
Students who earn a certificate or degree in Teaching English as a Second Language find work teaching English in private schools and language academies, both locally and internationally. Please note that the certificate does not qualify a student to teach ESL in public education in the United States. By earning the TESL certificate, students are well-equipped for study abroad opportunities or work opportunities. Some students choose to continue their education and pursue a Bachelors of Arts in TESL as well as a teaching certificate to qualify them to work in public education.
