Erin Reynolds, a senior music major at Snow College from Golden, CO, needed a resume
make-over and came to the Snow College Career Center.
She first heard about career services from an admired student success advisor, Barbara Dalene, who suggested that Career Services could assist her with her resume and career search. Dalene then sent her to Stacee McIff, the head of the business department, but then referred her to Stacie Durrance, a career advisor in Snow College Career Services.
Erin is a singer and pianist about to get her Bachelor’s degree in commercial music production. She loves vocal performance and enjoys choir and music technology. She wants to pursue a career in the music field. It is essential to have a good resume, especially after graduation in order to land a job.
Erin tried to put a resume together by herself, and then decided she needed some help to improve it and make it worthy for a job. She was able to set up multiple appointments with Stacie Durrance where they went over her resume and added essential elements like specific skills and abilities and got rid of the unnecessary ones. Erin says it was most helpful to list past work experiences related to the job she was applying for. Writing a resume in this way helps it to stand out against the rest. Erin is planning on staying in Ephraim for the next couple of years to work and continue focusing on her music but recommends career services to any student, especially to those about to graduate or transfer to a new school.
The Snow College Career Center is located in Ephraim in the west portable behind the Business Building and in Richfield at the Washburn Building room 155. Visit the Career Center to get help on your resume!
