One of the best experience a student in biology can have is to attend a summer field station. There are many of these. Usually universities and colleges run them. A few are independent. They offer opportunities to take classes or do research. Be sure to determine that any credits you earn will be accepted by the college or university you plan to which you plan to transfer them.
Costs can be high but don't let this discourage you before checking into any financial aid that might be available.
