One main goal is clearly communicating your work to other readers. Make it neat; don't skip steps. Pretend you are writing the solutions manual. Use the Model, Visualize, Solve, Assess strategy. In the problems you do on paper communicating neatly and showing your strategy is much more important than the right answer.
You don't have to solve the "Just read" problems or turn them in, but do really read them.
