This course is concurrent with either DANC 1906, DANC 1916, DANC 2906 or DANC 2916. Through additional evening rehearsals, outreach activities, participation in the ACDA Conferences and participation in the Fall and Spring Snow College Dance Concerts, the class provides students with an opportunity to experience choreographing, designing, producing and performing for a public performance in the theater space. Repeateable for credit.
This is a new course that was suggested to us by a recent panel of six external reviewers of the Snow College Dance Department. It ensures that both the students and the instructors of the Dance Company class are awarded credit for an average of 15 extra (outside of regular classroom) hours of rehearsals a week plus additional 40 hours a semester spent with either Guest Artists or with an ACDA Conference, plus additional 30 hours of rehearsal in the Kim Christensen Theatre in addition to collaborating with other faculty and staff in designing lights, sound, costumes and marketing materials/programs for our Fall and Spring Snow College Dance Concerts at the Kim Christison Theatre.
This course is offered concurrently with the Snow College Dance Company courses. Through evening and weekend rehearsals that take place outside of regular class time, rehearsals in the Kim Christensen Theatre, as well as additional trips to American College Dance Association Conference and other festivals, students will gain additional experience as dance performers, dance choreographers, and dance concert designers and producers. Since each project will be a unique creative endeavor, students will be able to explore a wide variety of potential artistic visions in collaboration with faculty mentors.
