Traumatic stories are often clothed in a shiny surface of sympathy. A listener will never know of the coats that need replacing or the small adjustments needed to make everyday in order to live life normally. A simple understanding of a generalized painfulness and expensive hospital bills is enough to satisfy a distressed individual. If the time is taken to set aside these assumptions, there will arise an opportunity to look at the deeper and more individualized aspects of these circumstances.

A Little Predicament is an animation and installation made to tell the viewer the unexplored details in a single story. A car wreck I experienced in March 2018 opened my eyes to how much someone’s life differs afterwards—even if they are not dramatically wounded. Each piece exists in its own right, an exploration into the small changes that wind into a clump of memories and emotions. This exhibition is a way to share my memories in order to express the strong feelings I associate with my experience. Looking closely at these minor details from a single event shows how important it is to remember and think about the possibilities of even the small parts of our lives changing.

ALTSPACE, ANNEX and GALLERY X are galleries dedicated to exhibiting independently produced work by visual art students of Snow College. The spaces are designed to foster initiative, independent thought, and professionalism. The student gallery spaces promote studio practice beyond the boundaries of the classroom. Solo and collaborative exhibitions are encouraged. Participants are selected by a jury process and are solely responsible for the content, fabrication, marketing, and installation of exhibitions. These spaces are venues for AFA Thesis Exhibitions near the conclusion AFA studies.
