College Algebra - Math 1050

Course Description:

This four-credit course is for students who are prepared for college math and who plan to major in some science/engineering area, business, or education. This course will help prepare students for college calculus. An emphasis will be made on real-world applications and projects whenever possible.

Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) for Math 1050

To successfully complete this course, the student must show proficiency with:

  • Constructing and solving linear and nonlinear functions, equations and inequalities and applying them to real-world problems
  • Creating and using graphs to describe the behavior of linear, polynomial, rational, absolute value, exponential, logarithmic, and piecewise equations/functions
  • Using matrix arithmetic and algebra to solve systems of equations
  • Solving applications involving sequences and series
