Malynda Bjerregaard, our Forensics Director, recently led the Speech and Debate Team through a successful
tournament in Idaho. The team took 1st place in Speech IE Sweepstakes for all schools
at the tournament - and Snow was the only junior college at the event. Congratulations,
Malynda, for your series of successes with a newly-formed team!

I want to give a big shout out to the Business Office staff - to Lisa Jones and Bryce Warby specifically. They are always quick to answer questions, and they always have the
answers I need. When Banner frustrates me, Lisa and Bryce can save me. Thank you.

For the "I spotted someone doing something good" portion of the Badger Buzz, this
is what I've seen...
1) Grounds crew - working so hard in the freezing cold weather to get the campus plowed/shoveled.
These guys have literally worked for hours with these last snow storms.
2) Terry Lund - I was over in the Lucy Phillips building and was looking at the cabinets that were
built for that building, and they look amazing! What great talent we have here on
campus!

I recently received an email from a former student who isn't having the best experience
at her four-year university. She said, "Where is Susan Larsen, Kim Cragun, and Bob Trythall? Why can't everywhere be as great as Snow? Ugh." Thanks, Susan, Kim, and Bob for
being a happy memory for this student.

As we were gathering to hand out Christmas turkeys, I realized I hadn't made arrangements
to use the hand-warmers. (We did have plenty of loud music, though!!) Jesse Bratton, who had taken the day off work, walked through campus and asked if we wanted to
use the warmers. Within minutes, he had gone to the Physical Plant, picked up the
necessary equipment, and had the hand-warmers ready to go. So quick to help -- on
his day OFF of work. And, Chase Mitchell was helpful in rounding up equipment so we could adjust the volume of the music.
Thanks for your quick help too, Chase. We really do have good people here!

(Please send a quick note to Marci to recognize your peers. We want to let others
know of the many good things our employees do each day. Thanks so much!)
Please plan to attend the second annual State of the College address on Monday, January 10. Refreshments will be served at 12:00 noon, and the address will begin at 12:30 p.m. in Founders Hall. Poly-Com will be set-up; additional details will be e-mailed.
Remember how we asked for volunteers for a departmental show-and-tell? The purpose is to help us all get to know each other (and the work various people do) a little better in an informal setting. We've had a few takers, and we're planning one Departmental Demo a month this semester. In January, the Dance Department will be the highlight; in February, the Biology Department will teach us, in March we'll learn about the Advancement Office, and in April, the Physical Plant will show us a behind-the-scene look at campus, including a tour of the famous tunnels. We'll send details and reminders as the dates get closer. We hope you'll take a minute to participate.
Tiffany Harrison will begin employment as the Public Services Librarian on January 12, 2011. Most recently, Tiffany has been the Library Director at Stevens Henager College. Prior to that she worked in libraries at BYU, Berkeley, and Weber State. Welcome, Tiffany!
