Snow College men's basketball signs star Colorado high school player

EPHRAIM, Utah—Snow College announced today that Blake Truman from Legend High School in Parker, Colo., has signed to play for the Badger men’s basketball team starting this fall. Truman is a 6’8” post player who helped lead Legend to the Denver metro area Final Four last month. Truman was an All-Conference selection in the 5A Continental League, acknowledged to be the toughest division in Colorado boys’ prep basketball. Truman played his first three years of high school ball at Arbor View High School in Las Vegas before transferring to Legend for his senior season.

“Blake is a terrific kid,” said Legend High School coach Kevin Boley, “And he’s really skilled for a big man.” Boley went on to say that Truman is good around the basket, has great hands and “can shoot the open three which puts a lot of pressure on whoever is guarding him.”

Truman averaged 10.0 points and 5.1 rebounds per game in his senior season. “Blake is a very versatile big man,” said Snow head coach and athletic director Rob Nielson. “He is able to score in the paint as well as step out and shoot the three.” Nielson was complimentary of Truman’s preparation saying, “Blake comes from a very good program. Coach Kevin Boley knows the game of basketball and produces players with a solid foundation.”

“I’m really excited to go to Snow,” said Truman. “I’m ready to work and hopefully what I do as a Badger will take me on to bigger things.” Truman earlier visited Snow College and he thinks that “Ephraim is better for players because there are fewer distractions and they can focus on basketball and going to school.” Truman continued saying “I like the campus and I’m looking forward to getting to work.”

Snow College, the oldest two-year college west of the Mississippi, was founded in 1888 and plays basketball in the highly respected Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC). Snow, which has a second campus in Richfield, Utah, has a total enrollment of 4,500 students. This past season Snow’s men’s basketball team finished with an overall record of 22-10, finishing third in the SWAC, and was ranked as high as No. 20 nationally in the NJCAA poll.
