APX Gives Athletic Scholarships To Snow Athletes

EPHRAIM — Snow College and APX Alarm Securities (APX) have entered into a contract securing $60,000 in scholarship awards to Snow athletes. The deal in return gives APX significant publicity on the Ephraim campus and in college events.

APX recruits and employs college-age students each summer for the selling and installation of security systems across the continent. APX proposed the scholarship, paid in monthly installments of $5,000, as a way to jointly support the college and gain campus publicity.

In return for the scholarship, Snow agreed to allow APX on-campus for appropriate recruiting efforts and even training of its employees. The Activity Center conference room will be renamed as the “APX Alarm Room,” and two advertising banners for the company will be placed at Badger Stadium and the Snow College Gymnasium.

“This is a natural partnership for us,” said Shawn Brenchley, Partner of APX Alarm Securities. “We have found that our best employees are student-athletes from rural communities. The work ethic in a place like Sanpete County generates great workers for us.”

The agreement also allows APX sponsorship of halftime at the Zions Bank Top of the Mountains Bowl each year. In addition, APX will be the primary sponsor of halftime activities at every home Badger basketball game.

Part of the bargain called for Snow to create a one-credit class for any APX employee. The college will also offer one credit for student employees that satisfactorily complete summer employment.

“This is a terrific partnership for our program,” said Kevin White, Snow College Director of Athletics. “Our student-athletes will benefit from the generous scholarship donation. In addition to the potential academic credit our students can earn through this program, our student-body can also benefit as perspective APX employees. “

The scholarship will be given to the Snow College Athletic program. The conditions of awarding the scholarship will be determined by the college.
