Description:
Under the direction of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Snow College/K16
Alliance Liaison manages the day-to-day interactions of Snow College and the public
school districts of the six-county Snow College service area (Juab, Sevier, Sanpete,
Millard, Piute, and Wayne Counties). The liaison works with the public school superintendents,
middle and high school principals and counselors, and teachers in helping prepare
students for college work in all academic fields, including career and technical education.
The liaison works closely with the Snow College admissions office, the concurrent
enrollment coordinator and advisers, academic deans and department chairs, financial
aid and scholarship staff, and other relevant offices to provide updated information
to families and students in all areas of college preparation. The liaison also works
with College academic departments and faculty at high schools in organizing curriculum
conferences and networking opportunities that will benefit public school and college
students.
Qualifications:
- A Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university;
- Professional experience working with students preparing for college in the public
schools or in a college or university advising students or working with students in
remedial education or equivalent service that has uniquely qualified the applicant
for employment in this position;
- Must possess outstanding organizational and time management skills and the ability
to multi-task;
- Must be self-directed and flexible in scheduling;
- Requires outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with a variety
of stakeholders including students, parents, and school officials in both group and
one-on-one settings;
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and social media
applications.
Major Responsibilities/Duties:
- Work with the Snow College-K16 Alliance and coordinate activities between the Alliance
and the College;
- Work with Snow College Institutional Research Director in identifying the needs of
students who come from public schools into the Utah System of Higher Education, especially
high school students living in our six-county service area;
- Help students in the six-county area middle and high schools prepare for college in
the following areas: financial planning and aid, application counseling, navigating
high school prerequisites, understanding degree and certificate programs, etc.;
- Meet with parents and students in informational discussions that focus on college
financing, applications, college prep courses, degrees and certificates, etc.;
- Provide online and face-to-face presentations to help students understand college
life and the tools needed to be successful in college;
- Build strong connections between CTE courses in the high schools and CTE opportunities
at Snow College;
- Build and maintain strong relationships with high school administrators, counselors
and faculty;
- Work closely with concurrent enrollment advisers in the six-county area;
- Organize conferences on pedagogy and curriculum for both public school and college
faculty to coordinate learning pathways.
Additional Information:
- This position requires some evening work;
- This positions requires frequent travel to public schools in the six-county area;
Salary:
$54,842 to $59,230 DOE
Work Hours:
- Full-time
- This is an eleven-month position (August through June)
