Description:
Snow College seeks dynamic individuals to participate in the development and implementation
of a new Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering Degree Program. They should have
a track record of mentoring individuals toward success. They should possess dynamic
presentation skills and be capable of clear communication. They will guide students
through this program by instruction, securing internship opportunities, and developing
curriculum that matches industry expectations.
Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in a relevant discipline is preferred and will be given preference. Candidates
with an M.S. in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or closely related field will
be considered.
- Candidates should have experience teaching the full range of courses from foundational
level computer science to upper level courses in software engineering. Web and mobile
application development experience is a plus.
- Candidates must possess a student-oriented focus with an ability to inspire the best
efforts of students in the classroom, lab, and practicum.
- Candidates must be proficient in written, oral, presentation, and speaking skills
in English. They must be eligible to work legally in the United States without the
need for sponsorship.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience in curriculum development and
design; successful experience working with colleagues and in teams; skills to be an
excellent recruiter, advisor, mentor, and connector; and experience working with underrepresented
minority students.
- Desired skills also include the ability to program in a variety of languages (C++,
Java, Python, etc.); experience in application design and development; familiarity
with Internet of Things (loT) or intelligent application platforms; and connection
to industry partners and education institutions.
Major Responsibilities/Duties:
- Faculty are expected to teach fifteen credit equivalencies per semester and assist
in student mentoring, recruiting, and placement. They will teach typical undergraduate
courses in software engineering, software development, and computer science. They
will occasionally teach special topic courses in areas of personal interest.
- Faculty will participate in student recruitment and program marketing. They will advise
and mentor computer science and software engineering students. They will also help
find internship and employment opportunities for students.
- Faculty will participate in engineering and computer science department growth and
improvement, as well as faculty development activities and college committee assignments.
- Faculty will assist with pathway creation and developing courses for K-12 institutions
that will inspire them to prepare for college and pursue a degree in software engineering.
They will also work to establish industry partners to serve as guides for the program
and to provide internship opportunities for students.
Salary:
$60,000 - $65,000 annually DOE
