Description:
The Residence Life Coordinator is responsible for hiring, training, and supervising
the Residence Hall staff in a residential community housing approximately 800 students
under the instruction of the Director of Residence Life. The RLC serves as a liaison
with other departments in planning campus programs and addressing student development
needs.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred within Education, Counseling,
Student Personnel or related field.
- A minimum of two years’ experience in Residence Life/Housing experience preferred.
- Ability to deal with stressful situations and effectively manage conflict to resolution.
- Demonstrate self-reliance, self-management and initiative.
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment as well as an independent contributor.
- Positive attitude, proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations.
- Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of constituents both orally and
in writing.
- Must be flexible and be able to maintain effectiveness when experiencing major changes
in work task, the work environment or conditions affecting the organization.
- Experience training student leaders and positively motivating students.
Major Responsibilities/Duties:
- Under the direction of the Director of Residence Life, provide, schedule and develop
Resident Director and Resident Assistant trainings for Fall, Winter, Spring and on-going
trainings.
- Coordinates staff selection processes, staff evaluation and training retreats.
- Designs and implements the Office of Residence Life programming models that support
the overall mission, vision and values of the department.
- Communicates with staff about campus events, changes and developments.
- Manages budget responsibilities within the position as assigned.
- Oversees the Residence Life student staff with scheduling, training, hiring, etc.
- Manages the on-call phone schedule and RA duty schedules.
- Participates in an on-call rotating duty schedules on an as needed bases.
- Assists in managing and responding to all parent inquiries.
- Assumes other duties as needed or assigned by the Director of Residence Life.
- Oversees RHA (Residence Hall Association), a club organization established by the
department.
Additional Information
Work is performed in a standard office environment with frequent use of phones, computers,
software systems and other communication devices. This position occasionally requires
nights and weekend work hours. Limited travel may be required for recruitment events
such as Open Houses, meetings and professional development.
Salary:
$34,000 - $37,000 DOE
