Description:

Snow College is seeking applicants for a Foreign Language Instructor/Assistant Professor with foreign language and ESL/TESL teaching experience.  Position is tenure-track.  Native or near-native proficiency is required in one of the following languages: Arabic, Chinese, German, Japanese, Korean, or Portuguese.  Relevant master’s degree required; Ph.D. applicants are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications:
  • Relevant masters degree required, Ph.D. encouraged.
  • Native or near-native proficiency in one of the following languages: Arabic, Chinese, German, Japanese, Korean, or Portuguese.
  • Certification in TESL preferred.
  • Expertise in language teaching methodologies.
  • Expertise in an additional foreign language desirable.
  • Experience teaching ESL or EFL to adults, preferably in an academic Intensive English Program (IEP) at the college level
  • An understanding of current L2 teaching strategies, techniques, and learning theories
  • An understanding of the academic and personal needs of L2 students
  • College-level teaching experience preferred with evidence of commitment to undergraduate learning and professional development.
  • Computer literacy, familiarity with Internet, appropriate software, etc.
  • Ability to work well in coordination and cooperation with other individuals and areas like the Center for Global Engagement, High School Concurrent Enrollment, etc.
Major Responsibilities/Duties:
  • Teach lower-division language classes.
  • Teach ESL and TESL courses as needed.
  • Participate in developing a strong language department.
  • Participate in student recruitment and advisement.
  • Be involved  in on-going professional development.
  • Accept college committee assignments and other duties as assigned.
Additional Information:
  • This is a tenure track position.
  • Salary will be based on highest degree earned and years of experience granted at hire.
  • Benefits package included.
Salary: 

$46,000-$50,780 DOE

Full-time
