Description:
The Snow College economic development liaison works under the direction of the vice
president for academic affairs in managing the College’s relations with our economic
partners in our six-county service area (Sevier, Juab, Millard, Piute, Sanpete, and
Wayne counties). The liaison works closely with county economic development directors,
business owners, industry representatives, members of the Six-County Association of
Governments, and entrepreneurs in aligning the educational mission of the College
with the economic goals of the region. The liaison serves in an advisory capacity
in informing administrative leaders at the college of the needs and goals of economic
enterprises in the six-county area.
Qualifications:
- A Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university;
- Professional experience working in economic development or related business experience;
- Familiarity with college academic programs and their relationship to economic development;
- Must be self-motivated, organized, and possess excellent written and verbal skills;
- The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills, possess keen networking
skills, be an attentive listener and problem solver;
- Must be able to work with leaders of both small and large economic enterprises and
understand the needs of rural economies and bourgeoning high-tech industries.
Major Responsibilities/Duties:
- Work closely with our economic development partners in our six-county area, including
county economic development directors, county commissioners, mayors and other members
of the Six-County Association of Governments, SBDC/Custom Fit representatives, STIT
representatives, public school CTE directors, and academic and administrative leaders
in the College;
- Keeps at the forefront of industry goals and needs in the six-county area and understands
the concerns of employers;
- Meets regularly with College industry advisory groups and seeks out business leaders
for membership to these groups;
- Keeps abreast with the efforts of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and
their initiatives for rural Utah;
- Seeks grants to fund academic program development to meet the needs of economic development;
- Works with the College Community Education Office in organizing community education
courses that address the needs of area employers and employees;
- Works with public schools in preparing job preparation presentations for middle and
high school age students.
Additional Information:
- This position may require some evening work;
- This position requires frequent travel throughout the six-county service area.
Salary:
$59,230 to $63,968 DOE
