Coordinator of Laboratories, Safety, and Outreach

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree in a physical science (preferred), biological science or closely related field.
Major Responsibilities/Duties:

The following represent a list of typical duties that the successful candidate will work in.  These may be adjusted according to need.

Outreach Coordination

  • Oversee, schedule, and coordinate visiting groups such as school or scout groups
  • Coordinate monthly activities which invite the public to the Science Building
  • Coordinate large events such as Science Olympiad or the math contest.  
  • Participate in recruiting and outreach activities to invite prospective students to Snow College
  • Act as a science advisor where appropriate
  • Maintain web pages to promote events and activities associated with science  

Laboratory Oversight

  • Set up and take down of chemical related labs
  • Create and set up new laboratory experiments and class demo’s for faculty
  • Oversee student workers in stock rooms and laboratories
  • Order chemicals and supplies for science departments
  • Maintain chemical and supply inventories
  • Ensure cleanly and tidy laboratories and stockrooms
  • Facilitate laboratories for IVC and online courses 

Safety Officer

  • Ensure compliance for labeling, storage and handling of chemicals in the science division
  • Coordinate and ensure up to date faculty and student training
  • Maintain required records, and Safety Data Sheets as well as ensure compliance with regulations
  • Produce and maintain online Safety Training for students
  • Develop online training models for faculty and students
  • Keep track of incidents
  • Handle chemical waste and ensure proper disposal
  • Attend training as needed to stay current in laboratory management and safety

  • Maintain a vibrant, outgoing and positive personality
  • Act as the face of the science division in a positive fashion
  • Be able to coordinate, organize, execute, and run events of all sizes
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills

Salary: 

$35,000-$37,325 DOE
