Description:

Snow College is seeking an audiovisual (AV) technician to perform installation, diagnostics, and fault-resolution for AV systems in classrooms and other sites all over Snow College's campus. The person we are looking for will have an innate desire to build audiovisual systems that are innovative, creative, and state-of-the-art, and will have the technical skills and competence to do so and to lead others to do so.

If hired you will be a part of our AV installation and support team, with an emphasis on AV installation. You will work with the larger AV group to ensure that the installation of our systems is done in a manner that meets both our technical and user experience specifications. To accomplish this, you will often engage in system diagnostics and fault resolution, as well as make occasional field design decisions. In addition to our full-time employees, our installation and support teams rely heavily on student employees. You will assist in training, mentoring and directing these student technicians. You will also occasionally be called on to work directly with people in other college departments to solve their AV problems as you assist our support group by responding to support incidents.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Audio Visual Technologies, or related field preferred.
  • To do this job well, you would need to communicate well with non-technical customers and build their confidence in the installed solutions. We want someone who can learn quickly and can complete tasks with minimal supervision. Of course, we want a detail-focused person who provides high-quality work.
  • You should be an excellent troubleshooter, take ownership of problems, and find creative solutions. You will need to be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes some after hours and weekend work on occasion.
  • Applicant will be a Crestron certified equipment installer and programmer. If not already certified, the applicant must receive certifications within a year of hiring.
  • Person must be able to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair enhanced classroom audio visual systems as well as interactive video conference (IVC) room systems including but not limited to, Cisco codec video conferencing equipment, Crestron audio visual systems, projectors, amplifiers, speakers and all of the necessary cabling for the equipment. Applicant must also be able to terminate audio visual cabling as necessary.
  • Experience in coding, specifically C++, JavaScript and XML.
  • Applicant must have basic skills in computer networking and networking protocols, including routing, vlan configuration, and TCP/IP communications.
  • Team worker, must be able to assist other faculty and staff co-workers if needed.
  • Individual must be self-motivated. Applicant must be able to prioritize work load demands and work with very little or no supervision. Must be able to work under pressure and be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Applicant must have a positive attitude, and be a team player that likes to work with other people.
Major Responsibilities/Duties:
  • Applicant must standardize audio visual equipment across campus including upgrading old classroom AV systems and bring them up to date with the best available technology.
  • You will work in class/conference room AV systems as well as address their concerns.
  • Applicant must work in conjunction with Utah Education Network (UEN) distance education to provide a reliable teleconferencing teaching experience to high school students around the state.
  • Assist in setting up presentations for conferences.

  • Responsible for gathering, storing and coordinating E-waste recycling.

  • Other Duties as assigned.

Salary: 

$35,000-$37,325 DOE
