Description:
Snow College seeks a highly collaborative student success professional to support
the academic advising activities and completion initiatives at Snow College. This
position supervises three Concurrent Enrollment Academic Advisors and is responsible
for the administration of our Early Intervention program. This position works closely
with the Director to deliver a quality Peer Mentor education program to serve the
retention initiatives of our community. The selected candidate will work as a member
of a team of 16 highly motivated student success and academic advising professionals.
This position reports to the Director of the Student Success Center and coordinates
regularly with faculty and staff committees.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Master’s degree is required.
- Extensive academic advising experience and knowledge of best practices is required.
- Strong public speaking skills are required.
- A commitment to continued self-improvement through professional development activities
is required. A professional record of conference presentations and/or professional
publication is a plus.
- Additional higher Education experience in student life and/or academic affairs with
emphasis on early intervention, peer mentoring, tutoring services, and/or leadership
development is strongly preferred.
- Some college level teaching and/or teaching assistant experience is preferred.
- Strong technology and assessment background is preferred.
- Experience with a student information system (Banner or similar) is a strongly preferred.
- 1-3 years supervision of professional and/or student staff is desirable.
Major Responsibilities/Duties:
- Academic Advising (80% time) – Perform academic advising duties as needed. This will
include managing a full caseload of assigned advisees.
- Supervise Concurrent Enrollment Academic Advising Staff (5% time) – Provide direct
supervision and facilitate the professional development activities for three Concurrent
Enrollment Academic Advisors.
- Early Intervention, including academic warning, probation, and suspension outreach
– (10% time). Supervise early intervention work to help facilitate intrusive advising
with students deemed at risk. Follow-up with students and faculty.
- Peer Mentoring (5% time) – Assist the director in the recruitment, training, placement,
and supervision of 15-30 Peer Mentors annually. Stay current with best practices in
Peer Mentoring.
- Attend state, regional, and/or national conferences and training annually. Present
at conferences as appropriate.
Additional Information:
- Snow College offers a generous benefits package including 12 paid holidays in addition
to annual leave/vacation time.
- Some paid travel is required of this position (conferences, meetings, training, recruitment
activities, retreats, etc) outside of normal work hours. This may include over-night
stays depending on the location of the activity attended. Some evening and weekend
work is required of this position in support of student. Some regular travel to the
Richfield campus is required.
- The opportunity to teach an occasional course for additional compensation may exist
as opportunities become available and schedules allow following the 6-month new employee
probationary period and with permission of the Director of the Student Success Center
Salary:
$49,000-$51,000 DOE
Work Hours:
- Full-time, 12-month staff position
- Office hours are generally 8-5 however, some evening work will be required.
