Description:
This is a teaching position that will support the Industrial Technologies Department
with course and lab instruction for the program area of Composites. The successful
applicant will have exposure in manufacturing with specific experience in manufacturing
with composites.
Qualifications:
- Must have a 4-year degree with 2 years’ industry experience OR a 2-year degree with
6 years industry experience OR equivalent 6-10 years of industry experience preferably
with industry certifications
- Must have excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Must have excellent technology and classroom management skills
- Must be dependable and trustworthy
- Must be able to follow directions
- Must be able to take lead on projects
- Must have computer skills in using Microsoft Office, Internet, etc.
- Preference will be given to applicants with positive work experience
- Must submit to and be able to pass a fingerprint criminal background check
Major Responsibilities/Duties:
Major Duties
- Teach basics in Material Science: Metals, Plastics, Ceramics, Composites
- Instruct in Composite: Matrix (Epoxy, Phenolic, Polyesters, BMI, PEEK, etc.) and Fiber
(Glass, Aramid, Carbon, Boron)
- Teach types of Prepregs (Unidirectional, Plain-weave fabric, etc.)
- Instruct in Thermosets versus Thermoplastics—advantages and disadvantages
- Demonstrate how composites are made—pan and pitch methods
- Typical uses and when not to use
- Composite Processing Methods
- Design for Manufacturing Principles
- Mold and Tool Design
- Repair Methods
- Inspection Methods
- Classical laminate theory with load calculations
- Other industrial composite areas of study or industrial technology courses as assigned
Other Duties
- Ensure lab equipment is secure and operable for student instruction
- Maintain additional lab supplies as needed
- Assist with maintaining an orderly and clean environment in the lab to ensure safety
- Provide mentorship to students
- Perform recruiting for the program
- Assist students with job placement
- Other duties as deemed necessary or assigned
Additional Information:
This is a nine-month position. Salary based on educational background and experience
at hire. This is an exempt position with a complete benefits package.
Salary:
$42,000-45,000 salary range based on educational background and experience at hire
