Description:
The Director of Human Resources plays a critical role in attracting and retaining
high quality professional employees who carry out the College’s mission. In this
role the Director of Human Resources oversees the hiring and development of all College
employees. This position reports directly to the Vice President for Finance and Administrative
Services.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Human Resources or Business Administration;
Master’s degree welcomed
- Experience with Human Resource functions
- Experience in supervising professional staff with a demonstrated commitment to professional
development of self and staff
- Experience in recruiting and retaining high quality professional employees
- Experienced collaborator and team leader
- Experience in budget management and personnel supervision
- Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- A strong commitment to employee success, quality service, and inclusiveness
- Current on new laws and regulations regarding employees and employment
Major Responsibilities/Duties:
- Oversee all Human Resource functions of the College and supervise all employees in
the Human Resources Department
- Maintain the College personnel policies and procedures working with a policies committee;
- Oversee early retirement, recruitment/placement/orientation;
- Advise and train supervisors and administration on employment responsibilities;
- Maintain salary schedules/surveys: Equity in salaries as well as exempt/non-exempt
classifications;
- Oversee an employee on boarding program;
- Oversee employment functions: Recruitment, applicant records, hiring, I-9 verifications,
personnel files, etc.;
- Ensure employee personnel issues are handled in compliance with College policy;
- Perform exit interviews and terminations. May need to arbitrate grievances and involuntary
terminations;
- Responsible for integrity of Banner HR system data on employees as the data custodian;
- Develop and facilitate performance reviews annually;
- Administer benefits and contract with providers working with a benefits committee;
- Oversee staff development activities;
- Represent the College for all task force and State higher education committees regarding
benefits and hiring practices;
- Complete loan verifications for employment; Office of Recovery Services requests;
and other salary surveys, etc.;
- Participate on campus committees as needed;
- Maintain the budget for the Human Resources office;
- Maintain the HR homepage;
- Respond to all GRAMA requests for employee information;
- Administer Ethics Point—a whistle blower program;
- Other duties as assigned
Salary:
$80,581-$87,028
Work Hours:
Full-time; hours can be flexible, with usual hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
