Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, education or related area or at least five years of commensurate experience
  • Small business ownership experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of current business principles and practices is required
  • Strong documented, organizational and communication (listening, speaking and writing) skills are required
  • Familiarity with federal, state and local agencies or programs with business- and/or training-related services (i.e. JTPA, Vocational Rehabilitation, Department of Workforce Services) is desired
  • The following types of experience are desired: business management, field sales, training program administration, and counseling/consulting or teaching
  • A working knowledge of the community, businesses therein, and the ability to work well with the public and private sector to deliver services of the Utah Small Business Development Center and Custom Fit Training programs
  • Willingness and ability to comply with Conflict of Interest statements, state code, and to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Must have general computer literacy skills
Major Responsibilities/Duties:
  • Meet with and assist clients in Sevier, Piute and Wayne counties (But may also help as needed in other parts of the six-county area.)
  • Assist with marketing the services of the Utah Small Business Development Center, Custom Fit Training, and Snow College offerings through a variety of agencies, committees, councils and customers
  • Establish and maintain contact with businesses and actively assist them in receiving needed counseling and/or training assistance to start or improve themselves and/or their business, including (but not limited to) the following activities:
  • nitiate client contacts
  • Assess needs
  • Negotiate specialized Custom Fit Training program requirements and develop written training plans based on client needs
  • Provide quality counseling and/or training programs in accordance with client schedules
  • Advise clients in areas such as strategic planning, management issues, market research and market strategy, financial statement analysis
  • And cash flow and financial projections, debt and equity funding development, etc.
  • Assist in the development of business plans
  • Assist in development and deployment of business-related training opportunities
  • Ensure accurate, timely and full completion of appropriate documentation, agreements, and or reports for clients served
  • Function within budget guidelines and be able to generate funds to cover set expenses
  • Contribute to effective department operations and meet established goals and objectives
  • Monitor status of training agreements, revenue, and cost data to provide appropriate billing, contract closure and attainment of financial objectives
  • Assist director in administration of the SBDC program
  • Perform other duties as required
Salary: 

$43,000 - $47,000
