Qualifications:
- Master’s degree (or above) in Counseling, Community Mental Health, Psychology, Social
Work, Marriage & Family Therapy or related field (required)
- Licensure or license eligible in Utah as a mental health professional (required)
- Previous experience working with young adults ages 17-24 (preferred)
- Excellent people and communication skills, written and verbal (required)
- Experience presenting effectively to small and large groups (preferred)
- Background in alcohol and substance abuse prevention (preferred)
- Integrity, professional ethics, and professionalism (required)
- Knowledge of counseling theories and the ability to effectively assess/diagnose mental
health issues & provide interventions (required)
- Effective group dynamic and crisis intervention skills (required)
- Accurately prepare and maintain records and reports (required)
- Background check of the successful candidate (required)
Major Responsibilities/Duties:
Promote student success and retention through the following responsibilities:
- Provide assessment, and short-term focused individual, couples and group therapy for
currently enrolled students
- Provide intake, triage, crisis, and emergency intervention which likely will include
some after hours and on-call response
- Serve as consultant and resource for faculty and staff regarding the mental health
of individual students and the factors affecting the adjustment and mental health
of the student population
- Consult with and make referral to other professionals and outside agencies
- Maintain accurate, timely case files that meet professional standards
- Attend appropriate local, regional, and national meetings and conferences for professional
development and to represent the Counseling and Wellness Center
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Additional Information:
Counselor/Therapist will report to the Director of the Counseling and Wellness Center.
This position is full-time during the academic year plus one additional month. The
position is considered 83% of full time and comes with an attractive benefits package
including two months off during the summer.
Salary:
$42,000-$45,000, based upon qualifications and level of Licensing. Benefit package
included.
Work Hours:
Schedule varies. To be arranged within M-F 8 to 5 with some evening and on-call hours
likely. Some occasional overnight and/or weekend travel anticipated
