Description:

This position is a “floating” position, but has the potential to turn into a permanent part-time position in the future. The alternate supervisor fills in for our permanent supervisors when they need time off.  Daytime shifts are generally four hours a day up to five times a week, and evening shifts are at least 7 hours long twice a week, with alternating weekend shifts of 6 hours on Saturday and Sunday.  Shift length is negotiable. Every attempt will be made to give the Alternate Supervisor reasonable notice of the shift that needs to be covered.

Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants with an Associate’s Degree or higher and/or previous library experience. Must be responsible, detail-oriented and organized as well as be a creative problem solver; must be able to relate well to college-age students; computer experience is required; must be able to lift 10+ pounds; must be able to pass a fingerprint background check

Major Responsibilities/Duties:
  • Greet and help people in friendly, courteous manner
  • Adhere to library and campus policies
  • Become familiar with and use library catalog and circulation software; assist patrons with library research through face-to-face interviews, email, phone and/or by text (in-depth computer and database usage)
  • Help patrons check library items in and out
  • Help interview and hire student workers; help create schedule for student workers
  • Help manage Reserves and Inter-Library Loan
  • Attend monthly supervisor/staff meetings
  • Exchange information through good oral and written communication
  • Answer the phone and assist students with copying and scanning
  • Serve as Managing Supervisor of Student Library Assistants for the shift
  • Oversee opening and closing procedures as needed
  • Organize and file library items
  • Perform other duties as assigned
 
Salary: 

$12.50 per hour

Work Hours:

Work hours are between 7:30am and 12am as needed
