Qualifications:
- High School diploma with some college credits; associate’s degree or higher preferred
- At least two years’ proven successful office experience
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and telephone skills
- Excellent English, grammar, spelling and punctuation skills
- Excellent initiative and ability to anticipate needs of supervisors
- Willingness and ability to give OUTSTANDING customer service
- Experience in preparing business letters, memos, reports, and minutes.
- Must be able to keyboard at least 75 wpm with accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, email, Internet
- Familiarity with Photoshop (or other photo manipulation program) and Microsoft Publisher
preferred
- Experience with Banner (Prod and Self-Serve) preferred
- Experience with creation of event brochures, flyers, and programs
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn mail merge
- Willingness and ability to learn other software programs, as needed for the position
- Ability to work with little or no supervision
Major Responsibilities/Duties:
- Assists in planning and implementation of individual or group SBDC counseling and
training sessions including scheduling, client intake, mailings, meals and facility
arrangements, registration, presenters, publicity, training materials, evaluations,
tracking payments from attendees and sponsoring organizations, etc.
- Maintains SBDC regional data for client counseling and regional training events using
CenterIC database, extracts appropriate reports and information when required
- Assists with online publicity for the SBDC which may include basic updates to websites
(no coding skills needed) and/or monitoring and posting to social media accounts.
- Assists in planning and implementation of individual or group SBDC training sessions
including mailings, meals and facility arrangements, registration, presenters, publicity,
training materials, evaluations, tracking payments from attendees and sponsoring organizations,
etc.
- Assists in document preparation of client business plans, correspondence, business
overviews, and other duties related to SBDC client services
- Assists stakeholders and partners with co-sponsored event preparations such as marketing
postcards, brochures and evaluations; prepares save-the-date card and brochure mailings;
creates online registration and assistance with registration,
- Assembles P-Card statements and documentation for SBDC Director and Business Department
chair.
- Prepares documents and envelopes for bulk mail processing.
- Compiles expense documentation for several SBDC and Business Department budgets.
- Assists with economic development and educational projects for the SBDC and business
department. An example is the procurement of 12 presenters per year for BUS 1600
(Entrepreneurship Seminars), communicates directly with presenters to collect bios,
photos, etc., follows up regularly until presentation date, arranges publicity and
advertising, schedules luncheon room and arranges for catering, arranges for presenter
thank-you gifts and sends thank you notes. Works with Library Systems Administrator
on AV needs in library auditorium and proper functioning of same.
- Assists with assembling information for and production of Business Department reports
for quality assurance and reaccreditation reports for Accreditation Council for Business
Schools and Programs (ACBSP), Northwest Accreditation, and with department self-studies
and reviews.
- Maintains updated lists of Business and Applied Technology classes for yearly approval
by the State Office of Education.
- Assists in distribution and collection of Business and Applied Technology major cards
each semester.
- Tracks and invoices for printer paper and use of fax machine quarterly for Business
department, Public Safety, Office of Marketing and Communications, Career Services
- Acts as BUSB Building Coordinator; schedules BUSB classrooms for Community Education
and off-campus groups for training and meetings, maintains adequate office supplies
and institutional forms for BUSB, coordinates copy machine and AV equipment maintenance
and repair, provides an “information center” for Business Department faculty, staff
and students, monitors building for repair and maintenance issues.
- Takes minutes at Business Department and Business Advisory Board meetings, and other
meetings as needed.
- Assists with details of annual DECA state-wide high school competition.
- Directly supervises part-time student employees to assist with Business and SBDC duties
via one-on-one instruction when necessary, to complete assigned tasks.
- Frequently works with many other departments and staff on campus, as well as other
government agencies, advisory committee members, and general public.
- Daily consultation with SBDC Director and Business Department chair on priorities
and accomplishment of duties
- Occasional travel for meetings and event support

Salary:
$30,000 - $33,000 DOE
