Description:

The teaching assistant works with the lead instructor at the Gunnison prison in the Building Construction program. The program consists of 3 semesters each year covering building trades skills to prepare students for entry-level positions in the construction industry. The teaching assistant helps with student instruction, shop setup, parts ordering, etc.

Qualifications:

Must have high school diploma or GED, Associate of Applied Science Degree preferred
Must be able to pass an FBI backgroud check
Must have practical knowledge and skills in Building Construction
Must have excellent people skills and be able to follow directions
Job requires significant amounts of standing, kneeling, stooping, lifting, etc.
Must be able to work within policy guidelines from Department of Corrections, CUCF, and Snow College
Must be able to lift 100 pounds

Major Responsibilities/Duties:

Work with inmates as an instructional assistant in the correctional facility
Ability to instruct on the following topics:
Shop, tool, and construction safety
Reading blueprints
Residential house framing
Building layout
Concrete construction
Interior and exterior finish
Cabinet construction and installation
Roofing

Salary:

$18.51 per hour

Work Hours:

Part-time; 29 hrs per week
