Richfield, Utah — September 24, 2026 — Snow College broke ground this week on an expansion of the Dewain C. Washburn Building designed to enhance the student experience and create a stronger connection between the Richfield campus and Main Street.

College leaders, students, employees, trustees, and community partners gathered to celebrate the start of construction. The project will include a new façade, plaza, monument, and gathering spaces that will create a more welcoming and recognizable entrance to campus while providing additional space for student connection and engagement.

“This project is very intentional. Everything about it comes back to our students and creating the best possible experience for them while they are here,” said Cody Branch, vice president of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. “As the campus grows and evolves, we want our spaces to grow with it and reflect our long-term commitment to Richfield and the students we serve.”

Originally constructed in 1977, the Washburn Building has long been at the heart of the Richfield campus. Today, the campus offers 19 technical education programs, associate degrees, general education courses, and NJCAA wrestling and cross country programs for men and women.

“This expansion will create a stronger connection between Main Street and the heart of campus while creating a more welcoming experience for our students and community,” said Snow College President Stacee Y. McIff. “There is tremendous potential for the future of the Richfield campus, and we are excited to continue investing in our students and this community.”

Construction will temporarily affect access to portions of the bike path and parking near the baseball fields. The baseball fields will remain available for public and city use.
