Program addresses growing healthcare workforce needs in central Utah
December 16, 2025 – Ephraim, UT – Snow College has received official approval from both the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) and Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) to launch a new Respiratory Therapy program, marking a significant expansion of the College’s healthcare education offerings.
The new program will prepare students for careers as licensed respiratory therapists—highly skilled healthcare professionals who play a critical role in diagnosing, treating, and caring for patients with breathing and cardiopulmonary disorders in hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare settings.
“This approval represents an important milestone for Snow College and for the communities we serve,” said Michael Austin, Snow College provost. “Respiratory therapists are in high demand across Utah and the nation, and this program will help meet that need while providing students with a clear pathway to a meaningful, well-paying healthcare career.”
The Respiratory Therapy program was developed in response to strong workforce demand and in collaboration with regional healthcare partners. Graduates will be eligible to sit for national credentialing exams and pursue employment in a variety of clinical environments.
Approval from CoARC confirms that the program meets national standards for respiratory care education, while Northwest accreditation ensures the program aligns with institutional and academic quality requirements.
Snow College President Stacee Yardley McIff said, “By adding Respiratory Therapy to our healthcare programs, Snow College continues its commitment to providing high-quality, workforce-aligned education that strengthens rural and regional healthcare systems.”
The program is currently accepting students for the spring 2026 semester. Additional details regarding admissions, prerequisites, and more can be found at snow.edu/program/rt.
