EPHRAIM, Utah (November 16, 2017) – The sixth-ranked Snow College football team has accepted an invitation to participate in the prestigious El Toro Bowl at Veterans Stadium in Yuma, Ariz., on Saturday, December 2 at 1:00 p.m. The Badgers will take on No. 10 Blinn College (Texas).
The game brings two schools with a long history of football success together. Blinn (6-3) has won four national titles, with the last one coming in 2009 on a team led by Cam Newton (now with the Carolina Panthers).
Snow (9-1) won the NJCAA title in 1985 and went to back-to-back national title games in 2007 and 2008. The Badgers finished the 2017 season with a 5-1 league record with their only loss of the coming to No. 2 Arizona Western, 29-27.
Early predictions call for a high-scoring game between two of the top rushing teams in the nation. Snow scores a whopping 50.9 points per game (best in the nation) while averaging 287.2 rushing yards per game (fourth in the nation). Running back D’Arman Notoa has scored 15 rushing touchdowns while averaging 110.3 yards per game with an eye-popping 7.2 yards per carry. Jaylen Warren isn’t far behind with his 97.6 yards per game, eight touchdowns and 7.6 yards per carry.
Blinn is 11thin the nation with a ground game that averages 233.3 rushing yards per game. Running back Carlos Grace leads the way with an impressive 1,146 yards on 231 carries, and the freshman has scored 11 touchdowns.
The El Toro Bowl is one of the top junior college bowls in the nation. Since its return in 2011, the game has been the NJCAA Football Championship twice. Year in and year out, the bowl has featured top-quality matchups between teams from all over the nation.
