
Course Description: In this five-day workshop students will learn the fundamentals of portrait draftsmanship. With an emphasis on structure and anatomy, Colleen will aid students in understanding facial character through the careful analysis of key skeletal landmarks, basic muscular structure and the unique shapes that help to create a likeness of the model. Students will also learn how to create a three- dimensional quality to their drawing through the in-depth analysis of the light source and how it affects the forms on the face.
Biography: Born in 1981, Colleen currently lives and works in Brooklyn NY. A student of the National Academy of Design, the Harlem Studio of Art, the Hudson River Landscape School, and the Water Street Atelier, she has been the recipient of numerous scholarships and awards. As a student, she exhibited her work at the National Academy of Art, The National Arts Club, the Cork Gallery in Lincoln Center, and Frost and Reed Gallery in London and NY. Colleen has traveled extensively throughout Europe copying old master works in Rome, Florence, and Paris.
