AI in the classroom

Snow College has a variety of AI tools available for faculty, staff, and students to utilize.

Microsoft Copilot with Data Protection AVAILABLE

Available for any current Snow College student, faculty, or staff.

Copilot provides AI chat for the web with access to modern models at no additional cost. Commercial data protection will be enabled when eligible users are signed in with their school account. This means user and organizational data are protected, chat prompts and responses in Copilot are not saved, Microsoft has no eyes-on access to them, and they aren't used to train the underlying large language models.

More information is available from Microsoft.

Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 Subscription

This is available as a purchased add-on per A# account for a cost of $30/month (annual commitment) using a Snow College index number. During the annual commitment period, departments can request a transfer to a different A#.

This tool embeds AI functions into common Microsoft 365 apps, including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams. Microsoft does not currently include this in any education-wide licensing program and is therefore only available for account by account purchase.

An introduction and overview of features are available from Microsoft.

Claude Teams Subscription

Available in two paid subscription options, billed to a department index:

  • Standard Seat: $20/user/month
  • Premium Seat: $50/user/month

Claude Teams provides access to all of Anthropic's Claude models—Haiku, Sonnet, and Opus—in a managed Snow College workspace, well-suited for writing, analysis, research, and coding. The Teams seat includes higher usage limits than the individual Pro plan, sign-in with your Snow College credentials via Single Sign-On (no separate password). Your content is never used to train the model.

ChatGPT Business provides access to the latest GPT models, including GPT-4 and GPT-5, in a managed Snow College workspace, well-suited for writing, research, image generation, and a broad range of tasks. The Business seat includes higher message limits than the individual Plus plan, sign-in with your Snow College credentials via Single Sign-On (SAML SSO). Your content is never used to train the model.

API Access to Multiple Models

Available to departments via API integration, billed to a department index.

Rather than a per-seat subscription, departments and developers may request direct API access to models from multiple providers—including Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, and Gemini—for use in custom applications, automations, and integrations built by Snow College staff and faculty.

Please note: employees who choose API access are not eligible to also hold a direct paid subscription seat for ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or Gemini — API access and per-seat subscriptions are separate, mutually exclusive options.

Students do not have access to API integration. Students may use the free versions of Copilot, Gemini, or NotebookLM described above.
