AI in the classroom

Cited Use Language

Generative AI is a technology that automates part or all of the writing and content creation process. Popular examples include ChatGPT (OpenAI), Gemini (Google), Claude (Anthropic), and others. In this course, you may use generative AI technologies provided that you give proper attribution to the tool (for example, “ChatGPT, OpenAI, September 2025 version”). Attribution must be included both in-text and in your reference list. If you have questions about how to use generative AI effectively and responsibly in this class, please meet with me during office hours.

Guided Use Language

Generative AI is a technology that automates part or all of the writing and content creation process. Popular examples include ChatGPT (OpenAI), Gemini (Google), Claude (Anthropic), and others. In this course, you may only use generative AI when I provide specific direction to do so. We will use generative AI in a guided way to ensure that course learning outcomes and pedagogy are fully supported.

Unauthorized Use Language

Generative AI is a technology that automates part or all of the writing and content creation process. Popular examples include ChatGPT (OpenAI), Gemini (Google), Claude (Anthropic), and others. In this course, you may not use generative AI tools for assignments. While these tools may seem helpful in producing work more efficiently, their use in this class would interfere with the intended learning outcomes. Any use of AI tools in this course is considered a violation of Snow College’s Academic Honesty Policy.
