Course Description
This course helps students develop and maintain greater satisfaction in their own lives and possibly help others do the same. Students will learn to personally and professionally develop greater resilience, increase happiness and satisfaction in life, and improve healthy life practices. They will also learn to recognize and manage common beliefs, practices, and patterns that can negatively impact happiness and life satisfaction. This course is cross-listed as PSY 1050.
Justification
This course will help students from any discipline or major in that they will gain valuable life skills applicable to all people. Additionally, courses similar to this are becoming popular at institutions of higher learning throughout the country. Not only will this course help students be more successful in general, but it is also a required course to earn the Behavioral Health Technician Certificate.
Student Learning Outcomes

Course Content
This class will include, but is not limited to, content on topics within the seven areas of wellness: social, emotional, environmental, physical, spiritual, intellectual, and occupational. Other topics such as self-esteem, work-life balance, healthy diet, burnout, compassion fatigue, healthy relationships, and more may be included within discussion of the seven wellness areas. The content of this course emphasizes real-life applications of principles and practices that are scientifically supported and researched. Students will not only learn these skills for themselves but how to teach these skills to others.
